NADA Protocol
treating addiction and managing stress
what is NADA?
NADA is the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association which was founded in 1985 as a non-profit professional and educational organization that support & facilitate training of the NADA Protocol which is integrated with addiction and behavioral & mental health treatment programs.
NADA strives to make acudetox-based, barrier free addiction and behavioral health treatment accessible to all communities and to ensure its integration with other treatment modalities.
How Does it work?
The NADA Protocol is 5 small needles inserted in each ear at specific points that help support the bodies detoxification process, as well as regulate the central nervous system.
This is a simple non-diagnostic adjunctive therapy for addiction, mental health, and crisis management. It can be used during any point in a person’s recovery journey; during withdrawal/detoxification, recovery, or to support the prevention of relapse.
It is also used for disaster relief to help communities recover and build resiliency. It helps both first responders and survivors. Acupuncturists Without Borders and Barefoot Acupuncture Movement are two organizations that exclusively use the NADA Protocol to help affected communities both in the US and abroad.
What is the process?
After the needles are inserted into the ears, and they are retained for 20 minutes while you relax. The process works best if you do not have any distractions, such as a phone or a book. Many patients spend the 20 minutes mediating or even napping. Once the 20 minutes are up, we take the needles out and you are free to go.
There are 2 ways to receive this treatment.
In an individual setting. A one-on-one appointment where you spend the 20 mins relaxing on the treatment table. This version is $15 for 30 minutes. It must be booked online.
In a community setting. You and other patients sit together quietly in the waiting area and receive treatment together. We can have up to 8 patients being treated at a time.
We currently offer walk in group sessions at East West Wellness (learn more) every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00-6:00 pm. At $10 cash or $12 credit card, these sessions are as affordable as they are helpful!
